Outstanding all-female quintet from UK (all aged about eighteen?) that manages to outclass most other albums in the genre. It is fairly notable for its highly complex harmonies, sophisticated arrangements (with guitar or piano) and audacious tempo changes. It's not just about technique - their voices are also splendid and they perform their own material (at least I believe it to be)! The back cover is totally blank, which seem to suggest a very small press. A must have to any serious female folk aficionado. All tracks are brilliant.

hi thanks a lot for your recommendations. i just ordered Bob Desper, Bob Carpenters Silent Passage, John Wesley Hardin and the first Steve Tilston. don't know, how i missed the Bob Desper reissue. strangely, he even had a P4K review. maybe i'll order these as well: Serge Yves & Victor: cagibi repress and the Hans Olson "Western Winds" LP for $25.- I found out, that there will be a Blaze Foley reissue on vinyl soon. that sound nice as well. this summer a listened, beside new stuff, a lot to the Mickey Newbury represses and I just got a lovely Tucker Zimmermann vinyl. I know Dave Bixby. like him, but not one of my favorites. the Marc Jonson Lp is great. found one on discogs for €35.-. i don't buy records for more than €30.- normally. maybe i wait for a cheaper copy. or do you think, that this is a good price? today i checked some of your other posts and came from one link to the next. never knew, that there are so many trouvailles around. I really like these, but they seem impossible to find at the moment. if you have a great place, where i can find em let me know. Jeremy Harmer - Idiosyncratics and Swallows Wings vinyl 1967 this has absolutely beautiful samples and these are both great of what i heard: Gordon Lowe Featuring Laurel Ward - Prisms (LP, Album) 1970 Gordon Lowe-Follow The Sound LP HUGH FEATHERSTONE BLYTH : EMPTY HOUSES LP i was looking for that one and found your blog. seems a great record, but impossible to find. Homegas: Homegas 1970 (LP, Album) Takoma only heard one song, but that was a beautiful one. Shelagh McDonald: StarGazer 1972 LP and this seems to be nice as well. just downloaded the files and will listen to em later. if you have more recommendations I'm eager to hear them. if i can help you out with newer titles. I have a great folk and singer-songwriter collection from nowadays, let me know best ralph

I would not recommend you the Hans Olson LP if your psychological price is only €30. Apart from few great songs, it is far from essential. €35 is a rather fair price for the Marc Jonson LP. Is it really worth to wait? I don't think so. Tucker Zimmerman is a great choice. Yes, you're right, somre albums are not easy to find... Unfortunately, I can't help you more Ralph. Let's hope that they will be re-released. It should be possible for you to get the Hugh Featherstone LP if you look at eBay regularly. Theorically, it's possible to find almost anything for cheap with a lot of luck... If you enjoy Yves, Serge & Victor, check out also the Warlus LP from 1977. Best, Alexandre.

hi just found your blog. beautiful records here. sad, that they're all impossible to find. especially this one and the snakehips are haunting and beautiful. have to check your older posts as well now. if you have any great recommendations, that are still available to buy on vinyl, let me know. i love minimal and sad folk and are just too young to know about all these older beauties. thanks ralph

Hi and welcome here! Thanks for your comment. It's not easy to answer you. Do you know your classic (Bob Desper, Dave Bixby...)? You should grab a copy of the Marc Jonson LP if you don't know it yet. It is easy to find and not too expensive. What about the first Steve Tilston album? Check out also Bob Gebelein. PS: I'm not particularly old - I'm 24.
